On May 1 every year Labour Day is celebrated to recognise the efforts of labourers across the world. The day has its origins in the labour union movement and commemorates past labour struggles against workers’ rights violations, including lengthy workdays and weeks, poor conditions and child labour.
UAE is home to about 2.2 million blue-collar workers hailing in large number from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Philippines. Government as well as non-government organizations across the country celebrate the day to mark the invaluable contributions of the workers to the society and economy. The Ministry of Labour planned a 10-day celebration as an expression of appreciation for the effort that workers put in and their contribution to the development of the country. Etisalat gave Dh25000 education grants to the children of 15 workers of various countries as a tribute. We at Servhub are extremely grateful for the hard work our workforce brings to organisations. No tribute can be enough to salute our workforce that puts everything and everyone else before themselves.
The contributions of the workers to the society and economy are invaluable. It is but fitting for us to mark Labour Day by thanking them and lauding their hard work and sacrifices. Labour is the ladder through which human dignity and creative excellence are expressed. Happy Labour Day!
