The Perfect Weekend Getaway

My perfect weekend getaway was the visit to the Aerological Center, where we hiked with team AFT(Arabian FiTrekkers). AFT Outdoor Adventures is one of the safest hiking communities in the UAE. My fitness journey began with AFT Adventures when I took to running. That being said, they have always been motivating me to push my boundaries and to reach for the skies.

This trip was nothing but pure bliss to the mind and body. Keeping up with Mother Nature learning her beautiful and stunning creations was indeed a spirit-awakening experience. Going on such an adventurous journey with my family helped me realise how crucial it is for our future generation to revoke that connection with nature. A paradigm shift from the anthropocentric way of regarding human beings as the centre of the universe to a more environmentally aware phase is the need of the hour. The stunning sight of those beautiful mountains and rocks amended my perception of what I knew about nature, and it rendered me a new perspective to look at things.

Not only was this an adventure experience, but it was also a bonding experience with my family. My son, Ayaan, narrated a story about fossils he had learnt in his school. It was great to see him taking an interest in appreciating our nature. Personally, I feel every child should be exposed to this experience, and this will not only be an informative trip but would also give them a chance to bond with mother nature. Today’s ever-expanding world is taking us away from mother nature, which is why trips like these would surely try to pull us back to the roots.

Lastly, a massive shout-out to Team AFT, who are consistently working to build a Hiking community in the UAE and as they are highly driven to transform trekkers into fit trekkers! They have a simple philosophy: to provide fun and social events that incorporate the best a place has to offer with the experienced hike leaders, who are well-trained and well-equipped in the field of mountaineering. AFT has played an enormous role, personally in my life; they introduced me to euphoria, which comes from running. Looking forward to more of such spirit-awakening and insightful adventures!
