Our globe is full of fascinating locations and visiting them is always an unforgettable experience. But what if I told you about a destination that is unlike any other, with a path surrounded by magnificent mountains and breathtaking views. This is the road that goes to one of the most desirable destinations, Tasmania’s Mount Kilimanjaro. At approximately 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa (19,340 feet). It is the greatest mountain rise that is not a part of any other mountain range on the entire planet. A trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro will be an experience unlike any other. Kilimanjaro National Park is the term given to the mountain and the six forest corridors that encircle it in order to preserve its distinctive ecosystem. UNESCO designated the park as a World Heritage site. The region surrounding the mountain is home to a variety of creatures, including the blue monkey.

Best time to hike Mount Kilimanjaro

Although Mount Kilimanjaro can be hiked throughout the year, some months are known for their lower temperatures, heavier rainfall, and even the possibility of significant snowfall on the summit. The warmest and driest times of the year, which are December to mid-March and mid-June to the end of October, are normally suggested to people to climb Kilimanjaro. However, irrespective of the fact that these are the months with the best weather for mountain climbing, they also happen to be the busiest. Individuals refrain from April and November months because they are the main ones for rain, which makes the trails more hazardous. Depending on the route and pace of the itinerary, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro might take anywhere from five to ten days.

The Marangu Route

The Marangu trekking trail was the first to be created, and it is still well-liked because it slopes most gently and offers accommodations as you ascend. One of the more intriguing features of the Marangu Route is that it is the only ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro that forbids camping; instead, hikers sleep in permanent huts. In addition, a variety of candy bars, bottled water, and soft drinks will be available for purchase, which is why the Marangu route is frequently referred to as the “Coca-Cola Route.” The Marangu Route is a favourite among trekkers who have a limited amount of time for their trip because it is one of the quickest routes to the top, taking just five days to reach Uhuru Peak. Additionally, only the Marangu Route follows the same path uphill and back downhill. so, anticipate it to be busier than the alternatives.

The Machame Route

The most well-known path is the Machame route because it offers breathtaking views and a variety of habitats, it is the route of choice for many visitors. It takes a minimum of six days (five nights) to complete the Machame Route climb. However, for a better altitude acclimation schedule, it is typically completed over seven days (six nights). Due to its difficult ascent, the Machame route—also called the Whiskey route—has earned its nickname. The trek starts at Machame Gate, which is close to Moshi or Arusha and situated at the southern end of the mountain. The hike begins in the lush, dense montane rainforest of Kilimanjaro. The Great Barranco Wall challenge awaits after you pass the Lava Tower. The trail then ascends steeply to the volcanic plug known as Lava Tower before descending to and turning around beneath the South Icefield. From gate to gate, the Machame Route is roughly 62 km/37 miles long.

The Lemosho Route

On Mount Kilimanjaro, the Lemosho route is often regarded as the most picturesque trail. It is one of the mountain’s more recent routes and follows a portion of the same route as the Machame climb. Hikers may have the opportunity to see animals, such as the blue monkey, as they travel along the trail through the stunning rainforest. Compared to the Machame route and Marangu route, this trail is much less used. Lemosho route also features the Lava Tower and Barranco Wall, as well as much of the same landscape. However, for the first few days, this trail offers some special landscapes of the surroundings that can only be seen from this particular location on the mountain. This route can be completed in either seven or eight days.
