“Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it.”
– Judy Blume

It is difficult to look past something when it’s engulfed in fear. For many, travel and adventure sports is something they have always wanted to try but the fear of uncertainty has kept us caged in a life of monotony and routine. If you are fiding out ways to kill time during your weekends or vacations, here are a few reasons why adventure sports and travel can help unravel the fear of everything going wrong and ease anyone into trying an adventure sport to see life through a different perspective:
- Say hello to minimalism

When hiking, camping and mountaineering at high altitudes, you won’t be able to bring your whole house with you. You’re going to learn to to live with the bare minimum and what a fulfilling experience that is! We are always surrounded by things everywhere, somewhere along the line, we lose sight of how simple life can really get and how little we actually require to be happy.
- Say goodbye to the materialistic life
If you feel that the only adventure you have ever had is climbing through mountains of things in your house then you have clearly not felt how ‘liberating’ the experience of adventure travel can truly be. You may even forget your mobile phone and television that you once craved for so much.
3.The adrenaline rush

How often do you get that exciting adrenaline rush that makes you want to laugh, scream, relish the moment and make you smile and scared at the same time? Adventure does that. Bungee jumping, rock climbing, surfing can bring back the excitement an spark in our lives
4. Nature always heals

We have become so busy trying to control our lives that not being in control can drive us crazy. Adventure sports and travel are in sync with nature, so there are a lot of things you cannot control when you’re on an adventure. Eventually we learn to let things flow naturally without having the obsessive need to control every aspect of everything.
5. Take things slow

In our fast paced lives where we have access to information at our fingertips, technology has made everything so convenient for us, its not quite the same while you are on an adventure, climbing a mountain. You may not be able to climb a mountain in a day and that’s okay because embracing your own pace and speed can give you the time to notice things and bask in the now.
6. Togetherness

If you’re apart of an adventure group or even plan something like rock climbing, bike trips, or scuba diving, it brings you closer to people, form new bonds and strengthen existing ones.
7. Gratitude even at high altitudes
Climbing a mountain or camping for days on end in an environment that is new to us can be quite challenging and intimidating, but it is in these moments that we realise how easy things are for us in our daily life, how grateful we need to be to be bestowed with any sort of abundance and technology to support us and make our life easy.
8. It’s only in your mind
Whatever limits we have set for ourselves is only our mind playing tricks with us. Under professional guidance and training, adventure sports when done with the right equipment can be a soul-searching liberating experience for many. All we have to do is to take the first step towards reaching a new height in life – benign high on life.
