A Step Forward to a Healthy Life

Fitness is a spectrum that everybody, regardless of age, condition, or weight, practices and enjoys. One of the key reasons is its immense versatility. The idea of gruelling exercises and sweat-drenched gym sessions might seem  like something only a person with prior experience can achieve. However, the path to a healthier life does not have to be difficult. In truth, there are various exercises that aren’t particularly strenuous, making the route to fitness a joyful experience rather than a stressful burden.

The key to good and long term health always comes down to enjoying what you  do.

While activities like dancing, hiking, swimming and other similar sports might seem exhilarating, they also have the capacity to provide one with the needed sense of achievement and fitness. Gentle activities such as yoga or tai chi can promote overall well-being by improving flexibility, balance, and mental clarity, thus helping one familiarise with the concept of fitness.

Everyone Can Do It! And So Can You!

Personally, my journey of fitness began in my thirties; late, just like my boxing endeavour. Stepping in late did make me feel like I missed out on the best period, but it was  a myth that needed to be burst. Fitness became a part of me in no time and cooking the perfect routine was the only  task I worked hard on. Just like apparel, these practices need to be tailored to fit individual needs.

To simplify, fitness doesn’t have limits, but it does have categorization.

Wage earners might find it impossible to allocate hours to their gym schedules and hence would opt for daily routine activities that act as a fitness resource. Desk exercises, climbing stairs rather than taking the lift and minimal pilates are some simple activities.

When it comes to stay at home mothers, I personally prefer for them to make fitness an opportunity to bond with their family and kids. Working out and going on treks with Ayan not only made us feel physically stronger but also strengthened our bonds by helping me spend quality time with family. For those with infants, stroller walks are a perfect activity that benefits both the mother and the child while for parents of kindergarteners, park time helps them stay fit and cultivate beautiful memories with their kids.

There is Never a Limit for Age

As I mentioned at the start, age isn’t a stopping factor. That being so for people in their 50’s.  A simple walk in the park, a bike ride around their neighbourhood, or even a home dance session might be all they need to get started. To build up on that, jogging, swimming, tai chi/ yoga along with some light strength training will be an apt addition.

I began fitness with a goal; and a lot in their 20’s in this day and age tend to practise just to achieve their goals. Fitness, once begun, must become a hobby you crave to do, an act you find yourself committing when in need of peace or enjoyment. Hence, a proper start can help you stay with fitness even past achieving the said goal. For those striving for weight loss, Cardiovascular Exercises and a Balanced Diet can do wonders, while for muscle gain, strength Training and protein intake are 2 key necessary factors.

Find your Rhythm

Emotions and fitness, however, have an unsaid direct relationship. People who are actively looking after their fitness routines often rely on a 30-min session that lifts up their day drastically. Though morning sessions might give out the image of a tiring start, the emotions it brings out are ironic. A clear sense of achievement and clarity is a well-known byproduct of exercising efficiently. On the other hand, group activities ranging from skipping rope routines to dance parties are known for their endorphin evoking nature. These are just two small examples of how fitness routines can be tuned to deliver a required result, physical or emotional.

Hence, it all comes down to the set goals you make and the effort you are capable of putting in. Fitness, rather than being a burden, should be a personal pastime that enhances our lives both emotionally and physically. We may create a better and more satisfying life by setting reasonable objectives and cultivating a good connection with fitness. So let us make a promise to ourselves to spend at least an hour every day in order to better our bodies and minds as we take a step forward to a healthier life!
